Manuel De Jesus Jima Sarango


Mr. Jima is 85 years old, married and the father of 12 sons. Mr. Jima’s farm is family-owned and operated and is located in Low Cango 5 minutes from Cariamanga. It is in an optimal location for coffee cultivation at 1,900 meters above sea level and an average of 20 degrees Celsius.

Cariamanga is a small tourist and cultural city in the southern part the Loja province located in the southern hemisphere in the Torrid Zone between 4º 9´ and 4º 33´ south latitude; and 79º 25´ and 79º 54´ west longitude.

Mr. Jima's farm has one hectare of land dedicated to growing coffee of the Typical variety. The natural humidity benefits the post-harvest process and shadow is provided by the growth of native orange, tangerine, gua and banana trees; which are harvested between the coffee harvests. They also raise hens.

Its coffee production is of 3 QQ by hectare.

This family has very limited economic resources and they need aid in order to improve their production and lifestyle. At the moment, their production is being sold to the stock center of Cafecon in Cariamanga.
